Health Focus Automated External Defibrillators
In addition to providing people with CPR and AED training, Health Focus also sells the Cardiac Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices.
An AED is a small, battery-operated, portable device that can deliver an electric shock to the heart to restore normal rhythm to a heart attack victim. AEDs can mean the difference between life and death. A sudden cardiac arrest victim requires defibrillation to restart the heart. You only have a very few minutes to issue the necessary shock to the heart.
Cardiac Science has designed the devices to be used by lay people with minimum instruction, not just those trained in CPR. They have designed the Powerheart AED G3 Plus with RescueCoach voice prompts to talk rescuers through the steps. It analyzes a person’s heart rhythm and knows when to deliver or not to deliver a shock. Then it prompts the rescuer to administer CPR with a built-in metronome to help pace proper chest compressions. Also, the text screen guides the rescuer in noisy and chaotic environments.
Cost for a unit is $1,495 which includes a lithium battery with 4-year guarantee, and a soft carry case. Health Focus will train users the device, or anyone interested in learning more about it.
If purchasing for an organization, at least one person needs to have CPR training, which Health Focus can also provide. Also, one person within organization will need to monitor results of self tests periodically.
