Medical Education Opportunities in Southwest Virginia
One of the primary missions of Health Focus of Southwest Virginia is continuing medical education for local medical professionals. To that end, Health Focus offers the following medical education opportunities:
Health Focus coordinates CME for LewisGale Medical Center campus lectures held the first Wednesday of each month at noon at LewisGale Education Center. Lectures are open to all physicians in the valley and surrounding areas and are provided free of charge including lunch.
American Heart Association CPR certification classes. Two-year certification including CPR, basic life support, and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Child, infant, and adult techniques are taught in a variety of classes.
“The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not represent income to the AHA.”
In addition to providing people with CPR and AED training, Health Focus of Southwest Virginia also sells the Cardiac Science AED devices.
